Web Based Tools Guidelines for Pupils

Blogging guidelines for your pupils will vary depending on the pupils who are in your class and their various abilities and ages. For this reason it is impossible for me to give a universal pdf containing a list of guidelines that will completely suit your class. There are however many examples of different types of guidelines for blogging on the internet and are easily found by searching "blogging guidelines" on google.  The types of guidelines I would recommend to design for your class group include:

There is also a very useful page on the edublogs website that outlines the different guidelines for and expectations of pupils while using blogs

Diigo Tutorials

I would recommend using "Diigo" for social bookmarking activities in your class. The reason for this is that diigo allows for pupils to bookmark websites and add them to the class repository but also has the added feature of allowing pupils to annotate the webpages that they bookmark. Diigo allows its users to highlight text and add "stick notes" to webpages which allows pupils to highlight the useful information and allow pupils to add notes of useful of applicable information they may know. Diigo also offers features that help it to integrate effectively with blogging software which means it can be used almost seamlessly with the classroom blog and the pupils' individual blogs.
